We are always told to look at the past to help guide us through the future, but is there such thing as only focusing on the past never the future? As the country begins to grow and become more diverse in ideas and lifestyles, we still look to an old document to establish our country. The current seats in the Supreme Court do not reflect the country we live in today at all. Majority of them are white and/or male with the average age of 62. The Supreme Court is one of the most powerful government branches. It has no term limits and are elected by the current president of that time. The term limits of these judges is a lifetime. The only “term” they have is late June and that is to reveal their opinions on cases. They do not leave that position unless they die or retire. Giving them much more power than we think they have.
You can argue that they gave them a lifetime because of partisan pressure, but partisan pressure should be allowed for these judges to be making life altering decisions. They should have the pressure of the people to worry them into their decisions. These judges have the power to overturn court cases and open them up to the states. With the states having very polarizing opinions these can cause problems for individuals that live in those states.
These judges come together and argue/discuss
with 9 people and try to persuade each other on their vote. These judges can be
stubborn and could only use their own beliefs to make decisions on behave of
America. For example, Clarence Thomas, he is very hard on his opinions. He says
he comes in knowing what he believes and is not planning to change his mind.

John Marshall act of judicial review should be
used. It was a very powerful thing that declared the act of Congress
unconstitutional. Judicial Review should be used more often. Times have changed
and laws have become outdated.
